It’s About the Process
This is me. At least, this is how I sometimes see myself. I painted these from a pencil sketch I made in a notebook. The original sketch is more flattering. To choose my colors for the one on the right, I followed Andre Derain’s portrait of Matisse. The one on the left I painted using my own colors. While both of these paintings are from the same sketch, my unpracticed drawing skills have created two quite different expressions.
